If you are on this page because you received a "Your image was removed due to copyright violation" notice from Pinterest... It's not anything personal against you. I know that 99% of the time, your intentions are innocent and I appreciate the kind words said about my work.
BUT...
While I understand and appreciate the idea of Pinterest, I am not comfortable with the way in which images are shared (many instances without credit or linkback). Of particular concern is finding my images used on commercial websites on "for profit" blogs of major companies without consent or compensation. I guess they rationalize this by linking directly to the pinterest version of my image. As someone who supports my family by SELLING licenses to companies, it's of particular concern to me. As a parent and as a photographer who tries to be very responsible in how my images are used (and where), it is very concerning that Pinterest does not allow me to control, or even to know where my images are being shared. I have a huge problem with this. What if a campaign for preventing child abuse or one promoting STD vaccines linked to a Pinterest image of my child (or yours if you are a client of mine). That would make me furious on so many levels. Anyway, that is why I have added a "no pin" code to this blog as well as demanded that Pinterest (and Cloudfront who hosts the images for Pinterest) remove all of my content. This is likely a losing battle as many images have been re-pinned without orginal links so there is truly no way to track down them all. I am saddened by this but I can only take the steps I know how.
